There are some fleeting moments in Warcraft (2016) that demonstrate that it could have been not only the film to finally break the video game-to-film adaptation curse, but that it could have stood shoulder to shoulder with the best of fantasy movies. Sadly, these moments are lost in a script with poor dialog, a meaningless second act, and characters that have inconsistent motivations. The purpose of making this edit is to minimize the damage done primarily in the second act of the movie. This includes, but is not limited to, eliminating the Garona/Lothar romance, the Alodi subplot, and bad line reads from the beginning to the end. With any luck, this will satisfy fans as a worthy substitute for the original for which they don't feel like they have to apologize.
Blade Runner: Danse Macabre
Blade Runner is a boring movie. Beautiful? Yes. But insanely boring. This is an attempt to pump new blood into this bore by replacing 95% of the droning score with classical music, removing slowly paced and unnecessary scenes, rearranging scenes for more narrative interest, modifying character motivations and focusing the cluttered thematic material. No slave commentary, no romance, no origami and no happy ending.
Earth One
Another Earth is, by all accounts, a fine sci-fi movie. However, as the film played heavy to the visual metaphors, without staying true to its sci-fi foundation, the movie strayed too far into the illogical. This edit is my attempt to make the film more "believable" within the confines of its premise. The purpose of this edit was to remove all of the imagery of Earth 2 being in close proximity of Earth 1 and to otherwise remove scientific implausibilities throughout the film. A mystery component was added to the film by removing the opening scenes. Bad acting was trimmed, VOs were removed and a new, less troublesome, ending was provided.
Oblivion Redeemed
Oblivion was a good sci-fi movie hindered by unnecessary plot exposition, Tom Cruise-isms, and a few inconsistent character motivations. By removing the bookend voice-overs, trivial dialog and a few choice action sequences, this edit streamlines the viewing experience, adds more mystery and otherwise polishes this film for a more mature, intelligence audience. The purpose of this edit was to remove the clutter and "dumbing down" aspects of this film to create a more satisfactory sci-fi experience for a smart audience.
Prometheus Unbound
This is my first fanedit. The original film is rife with ludicrous character choices and unnecessary, convoluted narrative points. This thrust of this edit is make the characters more convincing and the plot more accessible. The opening sequence with the first Engineer has been all but replaced with the opening Ted Talk followed by a montage courtesy of Tree of Life. Holloway's douchy-ness has been seriously reduced, Shaw no longer makes faith-based decisions and Vickes' bitchiness has been mostly removed. No more exploding head and the attack on Fifield and Milburn has less idiocy on their part. The ship falls on Vickes without giving her time enough to "just make a right turn."
